How to Compare Remote Access Software

There are various different PC Remote Access software programs out there which are designed to help you access your computer from another location. Even though there are hundreds of different programs which basically do the same thing, they are not all the same and have some important differences between them. Here is how you can compare PC remote access software programs in order to select the one that will be right for you.

?? Check which platforms are supported

Different Remote Software programs support different platforms. While it is now common for software vendors to create software which has numerous versions that can run on different platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac), this is not the case with all programs. So you will need to check out the software to make sure that the operating systems that you use on both the client and server PC's are supported.

?? If you will use the program on a mobile device, make sure that this is supported

There are now many people who use Remote Control programs to connect to their PC's from a mobile device like a smart phone. If you plan to do this, then you will need to see whether the software you are thinking of using supports access from mobile devices. Again, you will find plenty of programs that do, however this is not the case for all software.

?? Think of how many computers you will be using the software on

If you will be using the remote desktop software on multiple server computers, then you usually need to have multiple licenses to install the software on each computer. Many software vendors offer discounts and specials for those that will be buying multiple licenses of the software and some may allow one license to be used on a few computers. In any case, if you will be using the software on more than one PC, then this is something you need to check.

?? Take a look at the price

Of course, when comparing software, one of the things that we logically look at is the price. Some remote access programs are actually free, however do take note that they may not have all advanced features that you need and that the support on free or open source programs is generally very limited. If you are buying commercial software, then price obviously becomes an issue. However it should never be your main decision point, as software that is too cheap may not always be of the best quality.

How to Choose a Netbook - Practical Tips

With a plethora of netbooks available in the market, choosing the right one for you is indeed a daunting task. And with newer netbooks launching every week, the danger of a particular netbook becoming outdated is looming large on every netbook buyers mind. Thus its important to take a decision of buying a netbook by considering all the pros and cons, and having a clear mind on what features you want in your ideal machine.

Okay so coming on to what factors you should take into consideration before deciding to go for a netbook. The primary factor you should consider is the weight of the netbook, since it is for you to decide what purpose your netbook is going to serve and where you are going to use it. For example, if you want a netbook for casual browsing at home, then the weight doesn't have much significance. However if you want one for use while travelling, it's better to choose the lightest available netbook so that it doesn't cause a strain on your back while carrying it in a backpack and also allows you to conveniently carry it around with you wherever you go.

Another factor, and undoubtedly the most important one, to look for in a netbook is its battery life. It doesn't make much sense to buy a netbook that provides only up to 3-4 hours of battery life, since you will have to charge it frequently, and in case you are out travelling or have some important work to do, then it won't serve much purpose. The primary reason why netbooks became popular in the first case was because of their light weight and long battery life, and a netbook doesn't offer any one of them, then it's better to go for a laptop instead!

The third critical factor to consider when buying a netbook is the amount of connectivity options it offers. Generally most netbooks come with the standard ones - Bluetooth, Wireless Internet Wi-Fi connectivity, 2 or 3 USB 2.0 ports, one or two VGA ports, and occasionally Multi in one card reader and a HDMI port. However you need to carefully ensure that the netbook offers the number of connectivity options it claims to have. And whatever netbook you go for, always make sure it has at least Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and few USB ports if not more, since these are the ones that are going to be the most useful in daily use.

How To Be An iPhone App Developer

There's something strange happening. Apps are growing at an astounding rate. Whether you're in for the thrill of being a part of the next biggest thing, or you recognize the relevance that apps currently represent. If you want to know how to be an iPhone app developer, I've got some shocking news for you.

There's a changing of the guard. The internet is dying, and apps are quickly becoming the new face of technology. Soon people will use apps the way we use the internet today. Wanting to learn how to become an iPhone app developer is a smart and instinctive move on your part.

There are a few options you can take when it comes to learning how to create iPhone apps. But first, you must ask yourself two important questions, to determine which path of education you should take. Do you want to be a developer that works for a company at a traditional 9 to 5 job, and create apps for that company? Do you want to work for yourself, and create multiple apps based on your own ideas, and profit from sales and commissions directly from the app store as opposed to receiving a salary from a job?

If you would rather work for a company I would recommend going the formal education route. Although app development is still fairly new, many colleges and universities are now offering app development as part of their curriculum. Some offer app creation as a single course, while others have dedicated a full degree plan just for creating apps.

The time frame for a formal education in app development varies, and could range from a semester to up to four years if you choose to receive the full Bachelor's degree. If you see yourself being an app developer as your career choice, don't be discouraged by the time frame. The demand for developers will continue to grow as consumer use increases, and apps become more and more complex.

If you're an "I Want It Now" type of person and wanted to have created your own app yesterday, there are a few options for you too. E-books, software, and online courses are all alternatives available for you if you want to learn how to become an iPhone app developer right away.

The advantage to this type of learning is it works well for the type of person that has the drive to complete the training on his or her own, along with the added benefit of doing it at their own pace. Once you're done with training, you're free to crank out as many apps as you want.

There's no need to come up with the next Angry Birds to be successful as an individual app developer. Just Google "dumbest iPhone apps" to see the type of developers are creating, and earning a substantial income from.

To see one of the fastest ways to get your app created and in the app store http://www.appintelligent.com to check out a free video!

Google Docs - What's in the Package

Most of us may believe that 'Google Docs' is synonymous with 'Microsoft Docs'; simply a document creation software application.

Well, hopefully those nice people down at Google would forgive us our mistake and inform us Google Docs is a whole suite of applications that does actually include a document creation application and many other useful applications. What is different about Google Docs is the software package is available for online use only. (Yes I know nice people you can work on your files offline as well, but that is an add-on to the general idea).

The general idea

As computers have been around now for more than a few decades and as people have used and worked through them they have learned like everything in life what we like, what we can manage without and what is essential. One of the big issues with running a business with even a handful of employees is the duplication created and time wasted with employees working on the same document from different locations. Add to this the cost of buying and maintaining software licences and the extra work needed to upgrade programmes and a business can spend more time maintaining itself rather than producing its product.

An answer to this is to pay someone to take the headaches away and let a business concentrate on their business. This is where Google Docs comes in; they do it by running a set of servers containing software application packages beneficial to businesses. They then charge you for the use of their applications and store your files. The software becomes available through any computer with an internet connection.

How do Google Docs benefit business?

• No need to buy software licences, remember every PC in the company needs its own licence.

• No need to maintain the updates and patches or maintain the servers.

• Only one copy of the document exists and it is safely stored on the server. Anyone authorised can access and update or edit the document. Most businesses have experienced the duplication of documents; who has the most up to date one, who changed it etc.

• The document can be worked on from any location with access to the internet. The infuriating scenario of a document stuck inside a locked PC springs to mind.

• Employees can collaborate on the same document from different locations.

What is contained in the package?

The software included within Google Docs is pretty much everything a business would expect and need from an office type software package.

• Documents - document creation for word processing.

• Spreadsheets - spreadsheet creation

• Presentations - useful for creating business presentations

• Drawing - an application for creating diagrams and drawings

• Forms - used to create useful forms and questionnaires

What you receive from Google Docs is a state of the art business software package available through the internet where all created documents are stored online allowing any employee to access them from any internet connected PC or Smartphone; it sounds like just the package a business could draw great benefits from.

Google Apps - From Conception to Present Day

Believe it or not Cloud Computing will celebrate its 50th birthday next year. Of course like most conceptions it did not know it was being conceived neither did it know what it would grow up to be.

Cloud computing, in a nutshell, is the supply of computing applications and programmes designed to assist businesses make the best of productivity and communications. This is accessed from a remote server via the internet (the cloud) saving the company time and money on buying and maintaining their own IT systems.

In 1962 a gentleman by the name of Ross Perot suggested to a company, Southwestern Life, that they allow another company, Collins Radio, to make use of their idle computer time for Collins Radio's own use; thus creating cloud computing by action if not by name. Southwestern Life received payment for the use of their computer power and Collins Radio saved money by avoiding the need for capital input for their IT systems. Mr Perot received a fee for facilitating and integrating the computer systems use. All three benefited from the arrangement.

Both Google and Microsoft have entered the market as Cloud Computing Service providers with Google Apps and Microsoft 365; there are no prizes for guessing which company owns which product.

Microsoft 365 is based around their favourite applications i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel plus various other applications needed to ensure smooth running of the service. Although the applications are mostly reliable MS products that have be honed over many years the majority of them have to be installed on the individual user's computer so flexibility and ease of access can cause problems.

The minimum contract is for a year and dependent on how large your company is costs run from ??4.00 to ??17.75 per user per month. There is plenty of information available on the breakdown of service plans and costing but for a ball park figure of 25 users per year @ ??6.50 the annual sum is ??1950.00.

Google Apps is based around a suite of applications created by them and includes Google Docs, Gmail, Gcal and various other applications to keep businesses on top of productivity. All these applications are accessed through the users account and are retained on the server and may be accessed from any computer in the world; a big difference to Microsoft 365.

Another big difference is the way the service plan is put together; it is a very simple 'one size fits all' scenario. The cost is ??3.30 per user per month. With Google Apps you can either sign up for a monthly or annual contract. Using the same ball park figures as above the total for a year is ??990.00 on a monthly payment plan or ??825.00 for an annual contract.

It seems Google Apps has the edge over Microsoft 365 with its monthly and annual pricing costs and a very simplistic pricing schedule. They also allow for a more flexible work experience as you can operate all your applications from another location.

Common Flaws That Bring Down the Popularity of an Android App

Ever wondered why some android apps are more popular than others? The reason lies in some flaws that the unpopular ones have? This is not to say that every app is perfect. It's just that some flaws are better hidden than others. It is those flaws that don't remain hidden that contribute towards app failure.

Now, it's important to understand the key to the popularity of the app is determined by its quality and appeal, which in turn is a direct result of the android app development company that you choose. The reason why we have mentioned this fact is that if you choose a company that doesn't have the expertise and experience of bringing out quality apps, there is a good chance that the app will end up being a failure. A professional app development company will never develop overtly flawed apps.

Let's have a look at the flaws that an android app might have, that are usually very self-evident.

Poor Visuals

One of the first things that users note in an app is the quality of its visuals. Let's say, it's the visuals that make the first impression and in most cases a lasting impression. That's because before somebody is going to use an Android app and test its functionality, he/she is going to see that app. If the app doesn't have the kind of images that generate interest, say goodbye to its popularity.

Works in fits and starts

An android app or any other app for that matter can only become popular if it has a seamless functionality. This means, once it's been downloaded, the user needs to be able to optimize its functionality. A user shouldn't be made to wait endlessly by the app as it goes through its various functionalities. What this means is that the app should perform optimally.

Full of annoying forced closes

Say you are using the android application and when you are right in the middle of something you are forced to close the app because it hangs up on your or for some other reason. Does it sound irritating, well it certainly is! Nobody likes it and it has a marked effect on the popularity of the app.

So, here they are - The various flaws that have a detrimental effect on the android app popularity. As can be seen, these are flaws that are very evident and difficult to ignore. It's important that the Android application development process ensures that these flaws do not occur in the final app.

Cell Phone Wallets - Will It Replace Cash

We all know how hard it is to stay up with technology and in particular the latest, greatest cell phones and soon we will have the cell phone wallet. They will give us the ability to pay for things quickly with our smartphones. All you have to do is display your mobile phone almost anywhere you choose to buy just about any purchase and it's immediately logged into a digital cost report. Eat regularly at McDonald's? Tap your cell phone to pay for and your all-in-one debit card/receipt tracker/loyalty system may perhaps immediately provide you with 10% off of your bill.

Where Can You Use Cell Phone Wallets?

Right now, if you wish to appreciate these rewards, you have to visit Japan. But after many years of talk, cellular service providers, financial institutions, start-ups, and mobile phone handset manufacturers at the moment are definitely trying to change Americans' mobile phones into cell phone wallets. The objective: to snag a share of the processing service fees linked to the $3.2 trillion in total annual retail credit-card expenses, and also to convert the $1.2 trillion in money and check spending into electronic digital transactions.

Within the past five-plus years, Visa and MasterCard have used near-field communications (NFC) chips in tap-to-pay charge cards and key fobs. Now they're adopting cell phone wallets also. Later on this month, Visa will launch an apple iPhone case (designed with Dallas-based Device Fidelity) which makes the device suitable for tap-to-pay consoles. This comes after MasterCard's identical entry this summer, when it began promoting tags (designed with Atlanta-based First Data) that stay with cell phones. "Consumers currently use cell phones for online payments," states Josh Peirez, MasterCard Worldwide's chief innovation officer, making reference to delivered electronically songs and software. "The objective is to find them at ease carrying out exactly the same thing in the physical world."

The Temporary Cell Phone Wallet Products are Going to Have a Definitely Brief Shelf Life.

Nokia has reported that it's going to incorporate NFC chips in all its 2011 mobile Smartphone's, effectively driving Apple, Rim, along with other competitors to follow along with this cell phone technology. "Stickers and products are welcome bridges," states Gerhard Romen, Nokia's director of mobile phone financial services, "but demand for cell phone wallet's from customers is increasing, and entire execution is why technologies move forward."

Experts estimate NFC will end up all-pervasive over the following 3 to 5 years, that will give cellular companies increased power in determining the foreseeable future of the cell phone wallet. Without a doubt, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon wireless are apparently implementing a joint-payments initiative. They also understand how to do payments, billings, collections, maintaining accounts on an enormous scale.

Having said that, companies are not likely to do it by themselves. In Japan, a mainly cash-based society, NTT DoCoMo took control over the cell phone wallet marketplace by purchasing a bank. A more likely circumstance in the United States in which people without a doubt love to buy now, pay later - would be for more than one companies to partner with and even purchase a credit-card network, in order to make the most of its brand equity, processing experienced, and retail relationships through the use of cell phone wallets. "Jointly, they could provide unmatched fraud protection," Philliou adds. "And when danger decreases, so does expense."

The Scramble for Cell Phone Wallet is On.

The rush and excitement all around the cell phone wallet is indeed fevered that together with service providers and credit-card networks, now banks, tech giants, and start ups are generally willing to set claim to some part of this most likely massive new ecosystem. PayPal already allows customers send out funds by way of text message, and Osama Bedier, its Vice president of cellular systems and new projects, envisions a service that stores gift cards and alerts consumers when they're close to a business. Earlier this summer, mobile phone start-up company Loopt unveiled its Loopt Star program, an ber digital-rewards card for such brand names as Starbucks and Gap. U.S. Bank is working together with Infosys to advance outside of a simple banking app: It's creating a location-based "concierge" so intelligent (and perhaps scary) that it may possibly present you with a shampoo discount to shoppers browsing the hair-care aisle. As NFC technology proliferates, states Dominic Venturo, U.S. Bank's leading innovation officer, "we'll be capable of making a company case for services which can be even better."

This year, eBay can expect U.S. consumers to purchase approximately $1.5 billion worth of products utilizing its Smartphone apps. It's a brief leap, then, to making use of that very same mobile phone to pay at the Target in your neighborhood shopping heart. "From the customer's viewpoint," says Robert Hedges, a partner at the financial-services consultancy Mercatus, "the question is, "When is the banking industry going to catch up with us?"

4G LTE Technology in Android Phones

1G, 2G, 3G history

4G LTE Technology and its ancestors, 2G and 3G are same technology of mobile standards, which are considered by the ITU at 1992. ITU International Telecommunication Union, the United Nations, which controls all aspects of telecommunications in the world. Until now, technologies such as 1G and 2G are not facing the current 3G connectivity technologies and the latest 4G LTE wifi connectivity. In 1992 2G began to replace the old 1G and it was first launched in Finland in Europe. 2G connectivity network system was much more than 1G, much better and faster way of internet connection.

3G Technology

After 2G, came to more efficient technology, 3G tech, it has developed its roots in the year 2000, while 3G standards were agreed in 1999. The 3G technology can now easily be found all over the world on almost every smartphone, tablet and computer. Verizon was the first network that established 3G connectivity. 3G technology allows users to download files from internet with speed of 7 Mbps and at least 512 Kbps speed of upload. Today, virtually all known carriers offer 3G services in the United States, and now there are many devices on the market with 3G support.

4G Technology

4G is the fourth generation technology of wireless connectivity, brand new super-fast technology and it's getting more attention every day. 4G technology is designed for higher wireless speeds for users of mobile smartphones, tablets with high speeds up to 100 Mbps of download and 50 Mbps of upload. Wimax was first company that introduced and tested 4G LTE. Wimax released first LTE connectivity in year 2006., but it is finally released in 2009. That was start of super fast internet with speed of 1 Gbit/s. At first place 4G technology is mobility communication wi-fi service, intended to cell phones, but in near future 4G will be in every electronic device such as TV or PC. The release date of 5g technology will probably be in 2017.

Android and 4G LTE

Most of 4G smartphones are running on android operating system platform. Android OS gives 4G connectivity a new meaning and guaranteed speed of 100 Mbps for download. 4G android phones are optimized for LTE technology and gives users amazing experience when surfing internet and downloading files much faster than on any other operating system. 4G is now embed in all new devices like Tablet PCs, Desktop computers, Laptops, netbooks and gaming devices like PlayStation.

Buying a Cheap Tablet PC - What to Consider First

With the Tablet quickly becoming the direct competitor with the iPad, it's clear that we can expect to see these devices rise in popularity for quite some time. With so many different brands, specifications, and capabilities it may be difficult to decide what is best for you and at what price. There's no doubt that you could spend a considerable amount of time shopping around. There are many places you can find a cheap tablet PC for a decent price, such as eBay, Best Buy, Craigslist (which I will elaborate more on in future posts), and many others. When making an informed decision on what is the best tablet to purchase for your needs here are just a few things to consider:

We all Love a Big Screens

Another aspect to consider on your journey through shopping for a cheap tablet PC is Screen Size. One of the biggest concerns of anyone buying an electronic device of any type is the view area and its quality. Even a half an inch is a significant difference for an enjoyable experience with everything from watching movies to typing an essay. Screens range in size from 5 inches, all the way to 10 inches! One caveat to that is there is chance of an increase in weight which may end up being a bit too bulky for the user that spends a lot of time on the go. It's important to test the screen out and see how the visuals stack up in different situations, such as video recordings, movies, photos, screen responsiveness, and anything else you may plan on using it for. After all, you're going to be using this thing often, so it's important to make sure all of your needs are met and that you make a satisfying purchase.

Got to Love Memory

Another key aspect is memory. Of all the other features to consider when shopping or cheap tablet computers is storage. You can never have enough memory on a portable device. Period. Most of the tablets out right now however have only a few Gigs of RAM. So your best bet is to grab one with an SD slot.

Camera Quality

Camera quality is another aspect to give consideration to. Many use their tablets for things such as family photos, vacation snapshots and many other things. Everyone likes to have a decent quality camera and the amount of mega pixels is the measuring factor you want to make a comparison with for picture quality when shopping for a cheap tablet PC.

Those are just a few more aspects to consider. My next post is coming soon. Stay tuned.

10 Things Microsoft Must Do Now to Saving Windows Phone 7

Windows Phone 7 is having an exceptionally hard time catching on in the marketplace. Not only is its market share far behind that of Android and iOS, but Microsoft has yet to prove that it can rebuild its ailing mobile division, which continues to appear slow to adapt to the changing demands of today's consumers and enterprise customers. At this point, there's no telling what the future holds for Windows Phone 7. Research firms like Gartner believe the operating system will be fine after a few years as Nokia smartphones start running Windows Phone 7. But other research firms, including ABI Research, say that former Nokia customers will opt for Android or the iPhone, rather than stick with Microsoft.

Simply put, there is substantial uncertainty with Windows Phone 7 right now. Microsoft needs to act quickly to ensure its mobile operating system doesn't fall victim to its entrenched competitors. The company must engage in several key activities as soon as possible to gain a solid footing in the mobile Toshiba pa3534u-1brs batteryเธขย marketplace. If it does the right things quickly, Microsoft, see its platform grow over the long-term. Here's what Microsoft must do now to save Windows Phone 7:

1. More apps If Apple has proven anything, it's that mobile applications are integral to the success of an operating system. The company's App Store, which currently has over 350,000 available applications, has been a significant contributor to the iPhone's success.

Microsoft has an applications marketplace of its own, but as users know all too well, its library is not nearly as deep as Apple's. If Microsoft wants to save Windows Phone 7, it will need to do a much better job of wooing developers and bringing more apps to its Marketplace.

2. Improve the user experience Windows Phone 7 launched with a rather interesting user interface that eschewed the traditional grid-like design of iOS and Android for a more fluid layout. However, that design choice turned out to be a bit of an issue for users who found that moving between applications was much harder than it should be. Moreover, performing other basic tasks on the device, such as flipping through different screens, takes a bit more effort than it does on competing platforms. It would be nice to see Microsoft fix those quirks and deliver a more appealing user experience.

3. Lean on vendors Microsoft has currently partnered with several hardware vendors to bring its software to the market, including Samsung, HTC, and others. However, those devices are not as well-designed as the iPhone or even some Android-based smartphones. For the most part, they are run-of-the-mill smartphones running Windows Phone 7 nothing more, nothing less. Microsoft must start to lean on vendors to get them to try and push the envelope more with their smartphones. The flashier the device, the more likely it will succeed.

4. Adapt it for tablets So far, Microsoft has said that it plans to offer Windows Phone 7 on smartphones and Windows 7 on tablets. But that's a mistake. As Apple and Google have shown, adapting smartphone-focused operating systems for tablets is actually a much better idea. Plus, with the growth of tablets in today's marketplace, bringing Windows Phone 7 to slates might help improve the appeal of Microsoft's operating system. The time has come for Microsoft to think seriously about bringing Windows Phone 7 Dell latitude e6400 battery to tablets.

5. Reinvent the message If one were to poll the average consumer about the message Microsoft is conveying about its mobile platform, they likely won't know. That's a problem for Microsoft. The company's marketing efforts have been sub-par so far. Even worse, when consumers pick up the platform, they don't necessarily know the benefits of choosing a Windows Phone 7 smartphone over an iPhone or, say, a Motorola Droid X. Microsoft needs to rev up its marketing engine and explain to the world why its platform is a must-have.

6. Get working with Nokia as soon as possible When Microsoft announced earlier this year that it was partnering with Nokia to bring its operating system to the hardware company's smartphones, speculation started to crop up over when Nokia would finally sell its first Windows Phone 7-based device. Now that Windows Phone 7 is finding it harder and harder to compete in the mobile market, the software giant should go back to Nokia and try to get a device running its operating system as quickly as possible. The longer Microsoft waits, the harder it will be to steal back market share.

7. Fix the update process Microsoft's update process has been abysmal. The company offered up software updates earlier this year to some consumers, only to find that the issue bricked devices. After trying again, more trouble arose. That is unacceptable. In a market where Microsoft is facing off with Apple, whose update processes go off without a hitch, Microsoft needs to find a better way to get new software to customers and fast.

8. Offer a Microsoft-branded smartphone When Google first announced the Nexus One smartphoneเธขย เธขย dell latitude d620 battery , some wondered what its impact would be. After seeing sales of the device dwindle over time, it was clear that the Google-branded option, built by HTC, wasn't a winner in the smartphone space. But it wasn't meant to be. The Nexus One was designed first and foremost to build up interest and hype for Android-based devices. It's clear from Android handset sales following that launch that it worked. Microsoft should think seriously about delivering a smartphone of its own to follow Google's strategy.

9. Capitalize on the enterprise opportunity Microsoft will continue to have an exceptionally difficult time securing market share in the consumer market because of the success Google's Android platform and iOS are enjoying. But the company should remember that for the most part, Android vendors and Apple are leaving the enterprise open to RIM. If Microsoft can deliver more enterprise-friendly features in Windows Phone 7 in the coming months, it might just be able to turn its attention to RIM and secure a foothold in the corporate world. Once complete, it can then focus on consumers and taking on Apple and Google.

10. Work with Motorola Motorola is arguably the best provider of Android-based handsets. The company's Droid X and Droid Pro are outstanding. The Droid X2 looks to be all the more impressive. However, Motorola has not launched a Windows Phone 7-based device. Microsoft needs to address that problem as soon as possible. If it can get Motorola on its side, it might finally get the vendor support it needs to gain a foothold in the mobile market.
